    Text Twist

I just recently rediscovered Text Twist, and boy-oh-boy is it a hoot. It’s a simple, yet addictive game, especially delightful for those who decree themselves as wordsmith nobility.

    Mario Paint Composer

Maybe it has to do with my age, or possibly just nostalgia, but I love the trend of using Mario Paint Composer to arrange well-known music. It’s great because the program is simple yet capable of complexity, fun to watch, and just so darn campy. The music system was originally created for Mario Paint on the Super NES, however contemporary remakes have found their way onto the internet, including this downloadable version by unFun Games. Enjoy.

    Kung Fu

The ability to embed a 1985 video game, such as Kung Fu Master, into a blog, has to be one of the greatest inventions ever — the wheel, fire, air conditioning, grills and adult beverages notwithstanding.

If only there was a mute button...

EDIT: Okay, the music to Kung Fu Master was driving me moderately insane, and rendering the other videos on the blog useless — so if you would like to continue to play the game, go here.

    Traveler IQ

These games are my new favorite waste of time on the intertubes.

I should also like to take this moment to publicly apologize to Africa and South America, as my knowledge of your geography would embarrass the average 8 year old...my bad.

    Al’s Big Brain

I was just sorting through some of my archived files, and found this gem of a riddle created by Albert Einstein. Enjoy...

Einstein wrote the following riddle. He said that 98% of the world could not solve it. Give it a try:

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors in a row. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage.

    Other facts:
    1. The Brit lives in the red house.
    2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
    3. The Dane drinks tea.
    4. The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
    5. The green house’s owner drinks coffee.
    6. The owner who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
    7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
    8. The owner living in the center house drinks milk.
    9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
    10. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
    11. The owner who keeps the horse lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill.
    12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
    13. The German smokes Prince.
    14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
    15. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who drinks water.

The question is: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

Note: In fine anal-retentive fashion, I created a matrix to help me visually eliminate the pretenders from the contender. It’s not a cheat sheet, just a way to help sort and organize the information. If needed, you can download the PDF here.

    ColorText

This brainteaser is not as easy as it might first appear. The idea is simple — say the color of the text, not the word as it is written. Go slow, pace yourself, concentrate and focus, because I would be devastated if this teaser destroyed your self-confidence and ruined your day. Programmed by Phillip Miller Eberz.

    Do The Hustle

    Dear avacadolite,

Damn you! Damn you straight to Hades!

How in the name of Zeus am I supposed to get anything done around here? I am tired of having my ass kicked by your sweet, cuddly little farm creatures. Please, I beg you, remove Farm Hustle from your website. If I actually had an employer and was required to fill out a time sheet, I might have to ask accounting to add the job number AVOLITE 001. At least that way, I could bill you for the hours that were dedicated to your site. Honestly, without the new job number, I don’t think anyone would believe that I was cleaning my desk or doing clerical work for four hours a day.

What? What did you say strange little peach blob guy? Aw, you shouldn’t taunt me like that; it’s not good for you. Here strange little peach blob guy, meet my friend Mr. Bomb. Ha! Take that! Bitch!

    Sincerely,
    studiotwentysix2

    Old School

If you're into original Nintendo Entertainment System games, then this is the place for you. The site offers 525 NES games that are programmed in Java (the operating system and Java requirements are fairly specific, so you may need to do a download or two). You could spend days playing classics like Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Karate Champ and the Legend of Zelda. The Java player size is rather small, and the key commands take a little getting used to (as opposed to the old NES controller), but on nostalgia alone, this site is a winner.
